And this is a living collection of the best things: illustrated wrapping paper, hand-designed greeting cards, sewing machine stitches, and probably pictures of flowers and pizza. I hope you get inspired to take on a project, even if it's just going through your pens and throwing out the crap ones. Either way, welcome.

  • Last year before signing with @jennifer_nelson_artists she asked me to try my hand at some holiday work. Among the bunch was an illustration that I can best describe as a rabid squirrel in an uncomfortable Christmas sweater being forced to smile for a photo. Happy that one year later I can bring these little mice to life without ruining anyone’s day, and that J4 signed me anyway *UPDATE* the unfortunate squirrel has been shared in my stories

  • One of the perks of working digitally is when you’re making holiday work in the middle of summer, you can still paint in opera pink and digitize to Christmas goodness. If you swipe you can see how I painted the shapes and drew the lines separately (tracing paper with numbers to match which holly leaves go with which lines) and composited and recolored in Photoshop. If you’re like “what the what??” right now, I have a Skillshare class called “Digitizing your paint” that will get you up and running (well, sitting, because you’ll be at your computer) .

  • Pink: the grooviest of Christmas underdogs. Also, is it just me or would it be the funniest Christmas card to have a bunch of grumpy Scrooge’s caroling “And may all your christmases be shite”? Just some of the riveting thoughts that come while lettering holiday songs. .

  • I’ve been pretty anti-social lately in my real life, meaning instead of wanting to be home a mere 90% of the time, I’ve wanted to be home 100% of the time (and haven’t been returning texts 😬). But it’s good because while in my Christmas-light-decorated cave, I’ve been making lots of new work. Like this vintage-y winter orange spread, whose main problem to solve was how to have a bright orange in there without it being all about oranges. The solution? Make the repeat so large that only one orange could possibly be in view at a time. .
